AfricaGender Indaba – Edition 3 (40 Mins)

In this edition of AfricaGender Indaba, we make a turn to Uganda, where in April, the government there detained a prominent feminist academic, Dr Stella Nyanzi, for criticising Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and his wife, Janet.

We explore how Rwanda has managed to be the world’s leading example in terms of female representation in politics .

We also highlight how Tanzania is clamping down on the human rights of gay people.

And, finally, we pay tribute to the late Kenyan environmentalist and human rights activist, Wangari, Maathai.
