Lamar Hayes was born and raised in New Jersey (USA) and is currently pursuing his Master’s in Public Health at UCLA. His concentration is centered on global and environmental health.
He completed his bachelor’s degree with a focus in health care management, which led him to work for The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for the last few years. With years of community involvement and volunteering, he continued this work with youth at risk and underprivileged communities helping to improve their total health. He will be working with the CRPP Unit at Sonke to help improve maternal and child health.
Lamar is also passionate about using media to help progress public health awareness and education. Lamar aims to produce media content to examine the perception of the drought in South Africa and how the drought affects different communities and genders.
