Lizbeth is an intern in Sonke’s communications and strategic information (CSI) unit. She is a Master of Social Welfare graduate student from UCLA’s Luskin School of Public Affairs with an emphasis on Social and Economic Justice. Lizbeth also holds a B.A. in Sociology from San Francisco State University. During her graduate studies and previous work experience as a field researcher, she developed a specific interest in issues relating to gender-based violence, toxic masculinities, and the intersecting levels of oppression among communities of color.
Before pursuing her MSW, Lizbeth worked in the research and evaluation department of a non-profit organization, where she was involved in projects focused on the HIV prevention and linkage to care of Latina transgender women and Mexican men who have sex with men in the area of Los Angeles.
