Vital Kabamba Mabondo

Vital Kabamba Mabondo is originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). He joined Sonke in June 2007 as a One Man Can trainer and is currently the One Man Can Senior Trainer for the Refugee Health Rights programme in Johannesburg.

Vital has been involved in the field of training in HIV/AIDS and gender related issues since 2002. His interest in the field of HIV/AIDS began in 2000, while studying for a degree in Public Relations at the University of Mbuji-Mayi in DRC.

After he arrived in South Africa in 2001, he enrolled with Planning Parenthood Association of South Africa (PPASA) as part of the peer education training in reproductive health and HIV/AIDS in 2002.

Subsequently in 2002-2005 he worked with PPASA as a peer educator for the refugee program. He has run many workshops in different French language churches and with youth from various communities. In 2011, Vital obtained a certificate on HIV and Law with Mandela Institute School of Law at the University of Witwatersrand. He has extensive experience in working with refugee and migrant communities.
