WICDS, IDS & Sonke (2016). Invitation to Faith, Gender and Sexuality Toolkit Launch & Dialogue. Wits Institute for Diversity Studies, Institute of Development Studies, and Sonke Gender Justice: Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Wits Institute for Diversity Studies (WICDS), the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), and Sonke Gender Justice are pleased to invite you to the Faith, Gender and Sexuality Toolkit Launch & Dialogue.

The event will take place as follows:

DATE: Monday, 11th April
TIME: 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
VENUE: University of the Witwatersrand’s Wits Club, Braamfontein, Johannesburg.

The toolkit’s launch follows the highly successful regional workshop on ‘Religion, Gender and Sexuality’, which was held in held in June 2015, in Johannesburg. The toolkit provides useful information and practical exercises that can be used to engender human rights and gender equality from the perspective of faith. It draws from diverse religious texts and, therefore, engages with multiple religions and spiritual traditions.

During the launch, we will hear from local and international researchers, activists and faith leaders who have worked at the intersections of spirituality, sexuality and gender justice and, as a collective, discuss the opportunities and challenges that have emerged in this area of social justice in recent years.

If you are able to attend this event, please secure your seat by sending an email to faithleaders@genderjustice.org.za by 8 April 2016.
