Engaging men for gender equality

Sonke is excited to share the report produced by Voices for Change documenting their experience of engaging men for gender equality in Nigeria, focusing particularly on the strategical and pedagogical elements adopted and related lessons learned. Voices for Change targeted change at the individual level, or the ‘self’ domain, and provided training and resources for key influencers, identified as champions for change, whose voices and support could be amplified through peers, family, community and within existing networks, institutions and media platforms to support change at the societal level. As well as targeting men’s engagement widely through the design and content of the Purple lifestyle brand, Purple Tinz, the radio drama, the mobile site and social media strategies, VFC also focused on key influencers such as religious and traditional leaders.” Sonke staff and consultants provided ongoing support in curriculum design, staff training, and engagement with religious leaders.
