Importantly, the proposed new law recognises hate crimes and provides mechanisms to capture statistics on hate crimes. The Bill condemns acts of intolerance based on racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia and other forms of prejudice, and in certain cases provides for a higher punishment.
