It is with much sadness that Sonke communicates the loss of Beaulah McCarthy who passed away suddenly after a short stay in hospital on Friday 24 June 2016.

Beaulah joined Sonke as receptionist in August 2013. She was a respected and much-loved member of our team and her sudden departure has left a void in our hearts. Colleagues are struggling to process her tragic and sudden parting.

“Beaulah was at the centre of everything that happened in the office,” says Dean Peacock, co-founder of Sonke Gender Justice. “We will miss her more than words can possibly describe.” Hers is a life gone too soon.

The funeral will take place on Saturday, 2nd July 2016 at 9am at St Martin De Porres Church on the corner of Kasteelberg and Tafelberg roads in Bishop Lavis, Cape Town.

Viewing at the house will take place from 7:30 to 8:30am and the burial will be at the Belhar Cemetery.

Our deepest condolences to Landon – Beulah’s son, her mother, Mrs Phillipa McCarthy and Gail Roman and Lucy McCarthy, Beaulah’s beloved sisters, as well as the rest of the Roman and McCarthy families. You are in our thoughts and prayers during this very sad time.

Sonke will set up a trust fund for Landon and all donations towards this are most welcome. We will share details as soon as the fund is established.
