Amanda Baron is a student from Regina, Saskatchewan Canada. She joined Sonke as an intern in May 2010. This is her first visit to South Africa. She started her studies in the field of business at the University of Regina. Amanda currently completed her first year at the University of Saskatchewan where she is pursuing her studies at the College of Law. Amanda complemented legal studies with volunteer work assisting students at Campus Legal Services as well as working at the Legal Advice Clinic at CLASSIC (2000Community Legal Assistance Services for Saskatoon Inner City).
Her work is help with putting together some information and training for Refugee Health and Rights project on legal aspects of refugees and asylum seekers. She is also helping with materials development for Sonke’s ongoing projects.
When she completes her legal studies, Amanda hope to pursue a career in the field of International Human Rights Law, with a particular focus on the status of women.
