Corina Post was an intern for the Children’s Rights and Positive Parenting (CRPP) unit based in the Cape Town office. She holds a Bachelors in Political Science (Cum Laude) from University of California, San Diego (UCSD).
At Sonke, she worked to establish the first “State of South Africa’s Fathers” Report to function as an advocacy and informant report for political, health, and social service institutions. The report emphasizes the benefits to non-violent parenting, equitable family decision making, and care taking responsibilities of the genders.
Her passion for gender justice developed while working with local NGOs in India, Bolivia, and Peru and heightened while working for World Vision Zambia last summer. She realized many components of development intersect with the vulnerability of women. Last summer she created a report in Zambia on shifts in male’s attitudes for care roles as an unintentional result from a health education intervention. She is especially interested in early intervention of challenging gender spaces, and sociopolitical advocacy for gender equality internationally.
