Mphokuhle Mabhena

Senior Trainer

Mphokuhle Mabhena – Lunga (Mpho) is currently the Child Rights and Positive Parenting Regional Coordinator at joined Sonke Gender Justice (Sonke) based in the Johannesburg office in South Africa. Mpho joined Sonke as an intern in 2010 through an International Human Rights Exchange programme with the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. She got this opportunity after completing her BSc Honours Degree in Journalism and Media Studies from the National University of Science and Technology in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.

Mpho has been involved in several projects and campaigns at Sonke that include working with Refugees and Migrants, Religious and Faith Leaders. She has rose from being a Refugee Health and Rights trainer in her early days at Sonke to being a senior trainer within the Social and Structural Drivers portfolio that further exposed her to work with the Regional Programs Unit that lead the work with MenEngage Africa (MEA). This exposure enabled her to be exposed to working within the 22 African countries within MEA.

Mpho dreams of seeing a better Africa where human rights are respected and enjoyed by everyone, regardless of ethnicity, colour or nationality.
