Mwendabai Yeta Mkhize

Monitoring & Evaluation and ICTs Coordinator

Mwendabai joined Sonke Gender Justice in October 2010 in the capacity of Monitoring & Evaluation and ICTs Coordinator and is based in the Johannesburg office. She implements, administers and coordinates the Brothers For Life Campaign M&E as well as other Projects within the CEM Unit in the Johannesburg office. She also oversees and manages the In-House IT Systems within the Johannesburg Office.

Prior to this, Mwendabai worked for Gender Links for 7 years where she performed various roles as the organisation grew  bigger and when the needed arises. Some of her key areas was to establish systematic approaches in the organisations Institutional and M&E Systems which included setting up M&E, IT, HR and Admin Systems.

During the CSW54, Beijing plus15 conference, Mwendabai travelled to New York as the technical coordinator for the Cyber Dialogues and the Daily Links Newspaper that the Organisation produced on a daily basis. During her stay at Gender Links, she also coordinated the 16 Days of Activism cyber dialogues conducted annually by GL. She has also worked on the Gender Justice Programme in the roll out of the National Actions Plans to end GBV across South Africa.

In her early days into the workforce, Mwendabai worked for the Treatment Action Campaign as a treatment literacy practitioner where she conducting community trainings for two years. During her time at TAC, she also taught life skills in 3 high schools and also offering counselling in 3 local government clinics across Gauteng. She also worked for the youth development network and was at one point a training consultant for Gimel workshops.

She has been in the development sector for over 10 years and her passion for Gender Advocacy comes from both personal experiences as she comes from a family of chiefs and kings and also as young woman that is determined to make a different in the world of gender inequality where women are marginalised.
