Vuyokazi Gonyela is affectionately known within the Civil Society space, former colleagues and by friends as Vovo. She is joining Sonke as Eastern Cape’s Project Manager based at Butterworth office. Vovo is a passionate and dedicated feminist, health and human rights activist. She has over 18 years of progressive experience within the NGO sector.
Prior to joining Sonke, Vovo worked for organizations like Section27, Treatment Action Campaign and Indlela Mental Health previously known as PE Mental Health. Vovo worked extensively and has greater understanding of working within Civil Society sector from local and to international level.
She has held several leadership positions including being TAC Deputy General Secretary.
