Sonke at the 21st International AIDS Conference

From 18 – 22 July 2016, Sonke Gender Justice joined nearly 20,000 AIDS activists, researchers, and policy makers in Durban, South Africa, for the 21st International AIDS Conference.

Despite enormous progress, urgent action is still needed on many fronts: millions of people still do not have access to treatment, rates of HIV transmission are increasing in many parts of the world, and governments across the world routinely disregard or violate the rights of women, LGBTQI communities, sex workers, injectable drug users, and prison inmates.

Sonke, together with our partner organisations, presented our work and participated in activism to insist that our governments, donors, corporate sector partners and UN agencies deliver on their commitments to fund and implement effective prevention programmes, make sure that all who need treatment have it and respect and advance the rights of all.
