Dear partners and friends
As we approach the 2030 deadline for the Sustainable Development Goals, we find ourselves in a critical five-year window for action. Yet, progress on gender equality and Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) across Africa is under severe threat.
We are witnessing a storm: shrinking global funding, escalating pushback against gender rights, and shrinking civic space. These challenges risk reversing decades of hard-won progress and silencing the voices of women, youth, and marginalised communities across our continent.
It is with great excitement that we invite you to the African Regional Convening Towards Women Deliver 2026.
Sonke Gender Justice, together with its partners, will unite African feminists, youth advocates, policymakers and grassroots movements to reclaim the narrative, push for more domestic funding and strengthen accountability for the AU Convention on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls as well as other human rights instruments. This convening will serve as a space to reflect, align and mobilise, ensuring that our priorities are heard, protected and promoted on the road to Women Deliver 2026 and beyond.
📅 Date: 24- 26 November 2025
