Gender & Climate Change

Sonke recognises that climate crisis is not gender-neutral and disproportionately affects communities already facing structural exclusion. We have initiated strategic engagement on the gendered impact of climate change by contributing to South Africa’s Gender and Climate Action Plan, conducting policy reviews, and collaborating with feminist environmental justice organisations. This work has laid the foundation for our future programming on climate and gender equity.
