As a friend of the court (amicus) in the case brought by the Centre for Applied Legal Studies, Sonke is highlighting the urgent need for the Amathole District Municipality to provide safe and sufficient water to Khomkulu-Toboyi, Merilis, and Kunene. Less than half of residents have rainwater tanks, and many rely on communal tanks that are often empty. For the past eight years, Sonke has focused on how water scarcity disproportionately affects women and girls. This video series explores the human impact of the #AmatholeWaterCrisis and the fight for constitutional water rights.
