Sonke Gender Justice is thrilled to be the lead convener of this pivotal African Regional Convening, in collaboration with a powerful coalition of feminist organisations, youth networks, and grassroots movements across the continent. As we approach the 2030 deadline for the Sustainable Development Goals, Africa stands at a critical juncture. Decades of progress in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and gender equality are under threat due to global funding cuts, shrinking civic space, and rising anti-rights rhetoric. This convening is a bold response and an urgent call to unite, mobilise, and reclaim our narrative.

Africa is home to the world’s youngest population, yet many young people, especially adolescent girls, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those in rural or crisis-affected areas, remain excluded from decision-making spaces. This convening will spotlight their leadership, elevate African feminist narratives, and co-create inclusive strategies to ensure SRHR and gender justice remain central to global development frameworks.  We aim to dismantle barriers and amplify the voices of those most impacted.

This convening is not just a moment, it’s a movement. It will strengthen alliances between civil society, youth groups, and policymakers, ensuring that Africa’s priorities are heard, protected, and promoted on the global stage. Join us as we build a future rooted in justice, equity, and dignity for all.
