Here is a selection of pictures from yesterday’s session of the two-day MenEngage Africa alliance annual meeting that is being held in Harare, Zimbabwe, and is entering its second and final day today (Friday, 26th November 2015). Yesterday’s opening session saw members of the alliance discussing a range of issues, including how political conflicts often compromise and negatively impact gender justice and transformation efforts. In conflict situations it has been shown that women and girls often bear the brunt of violence and abuse from many fronts, including security forces such as members of the army and peace-keeping missions. The meeting resolved that the alliance should not remain silent in such situations. The meeting is being attended by representatives from about 20 country networks from various parts of the African continent, such as Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Tanzania, Lesotho, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
