In April, the Kraaifontein branch of Beyond the Bars, Sonke’s support group and community action team of former inmates, participated in an intensive theatre and performance workshop with the goal of empowering former inmates to tell their stories and initiate advocacy around prisons and re-integration in their community. The workshop included physical theatre, photography, writing and storytelling.
Sonke is a South African-based non-profit organisation working throughout Africa. We believe women and men, girls and boys can work together to resist patriarchy, advocate for gender justice and achieve gender transformation.
