Katie currently served as the Gender-Based Violence Policy Consultant with the Policy Development and Advocacy Unit (PDA). She was previously the Vice President of Programs and Co-Founder of Global Health Corps (GHC), an organization dedicated to building a community of change makers who share a common belief: health is a human right. GHC fellows serve for 1 year in teams of 2 (one in-country fellow and one international fellow) with high-impact organizations working to improve health care access and health outcomes for the poor in Burundi, Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda and the United States. In her role as VP of Programs from 2009 to 2012, Katie led partnership development, training and fellow support.
Before GHC, Katie co-founded FACE AIDS, a student campaign to fight AIDS that worked with more than 200 high school and college chapters, who raised more than $3 million for HIV treatment. Katie spent 2005-06 in Zambia and 2007-08 in Rwanda launching FACE AIDS’s income generation programs with partner cooperatives and support groups for people living with HIV. During her time in Rwanda, Katie also served as the Microfinance Program Coordinator for Partners In Health.
Katie earned a BA from Stanford University in International Relations and African Studies and an MPH from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. She is currently pursuing an MPP at the Harvard Kennedy School, where she is a Gleitsman Leadership Fellow at the Center for Public Leadership.
