Silicosis – Patrick Godana address

Sonke’s Government and Media Liaison, Patrick Godana, addresses Sonke and Treatment Action community action teams at a demonstration outside the South Gauteng High court, in Johannesburg, on the first day (12 October 2015) of a certification hearing for a class action lawsuit against South African gold mining houses. Former miners who have contracted silicosis and/or tuberculosis want mining companies to pay damages for negligence that led to them contracting occupational diseases which could have been prevented had the mining houses employed necessary precautions to protect the miners.
