Free State Men’s Sector
On 15 May Maluti-A-Phofung Local Municipality commemorated the International Family Day at Thaba Bosiu Tribal Hall with different stakeholders. Free State Men sector was represented as it had to deliver a talk about the role of men in ensuring stability in families.
The Men sector speech focused on “Men as good role models to a boy-child”. Delegates were reminded that most children including boys grow up without a father figure in their lives and turn to lookup to anyone representing a father and copy all sorts of behaviours from them.
Men in Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality Marching to Makwane Magistrate Offices
On 24 May 2013 about 1500 men gathered in the hall at Rantsane Secondary School to listen to different presentations by men from different organisations. Amongst the organisations represented were African National Congress (ANC), COSATU, SACP, SANCO, Churches and Civil society organisations. The theme of the day was “MEN SAYING WOMEN AND CHILDREN ABUSE ENDS NOW”
Mphahlolle Men’s Health represented Free State Men’s sector with messages denouncing women abuse, rape and murder of women and girls in the society. The event culminated in a march to Makwane Magistrate offices where a memorandum was read to the Magistrate by COSATU Free State chairperson Mr. Sam Mashinini.
