Sonke and Just Detention International are happy to share a new pamphlet on stopping sexual violence and HIV in Department of Correctional Services. This pamphlet is designed as a short guide for correctional officials and inmates to help them fight stigma and social acceptance of sexual violence and HIV in correctional centres. It contains vital information on sexual violence specific to the prisons context, sexual violence against men, and information on HIV prevention and treatment. These pamphlets are useful for distributing inside correctional centres, and to the wider community to explain why sexual violence and HIV in prisons is relevant to gender justice and health for all in South Africa.
