Sonke Gender Justice, the Gender Unit at the Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria, and the Centre for the Study of AIDS at the University of Pretoria – with the support of Irish Aid – are pleased to invite applications for their annual human rights short-course “The Role of Men and Boys in Achieving Gender Equality”. This is a free, intensive, five-day course run at the University of Pretoria main campus, which seeks to expand the knowledge of individuals and organisations working on engaging men and boys towards gender equality within a feminist framework.
Participants will debate the ideological and political implications of a gender transformation approach where engaging men and boys is key. The course seeks to strengthen existing work involving men and boys in the prevention and response to gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health and rights, HIV and AIDS, parenthood and other issues pertaining to gender equality.
The course will run from Monday 4 to Friday 8 August, 2014.
