My Bio

Edmore joined the Sonke Gender Justice Board as Treasurer and Chairperson of the Audit, Risk and Finance Sub-Committee in November 2020. 

He has more than 20 years financial management, financial reporting, accounting, grants management, investment management, treasury, computerized payroll, HR, administration/operations and contract management experience in his working career. He also has 12 years senior leadership experience in strategic management, operations, compliance and risk management, corporate governance and project management. 

Edmore previously worked for a Broadcasting institution, an Agricultural financial institution, a Power/Electricity Generation and Distribution Company and several international and regional NGOs.  He has occupied various senior management positions including Senior Manager: Finance, HR and Administration, Chief Finance and Operations Officer, Regional Finance Advisor (Africa), Finance and Operations Manager, National Finance Manager, Finance Manager among others.

Edmore is currently studying for a Doctorate in Business Administration and is a holder of an MBA Degree and a Bachelor of Business Studies Honors Degree. He also holds Certificates in Project Management from Stellenbosch University (South Africa) and Supervisory Management from the Institute of Supervisory Management (London, UK), Diversity Management, Total Quality Management and Communication and Collaboration. He is a qualified PEPFAR Programme Consultant trained through a collaborative programme conducted by the University of Washington and I – TECH, Seattle, USA.

Apart from South Africa, Edmore has travelled and worked in a number of African countries including Kenya, Ghana, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Zambia.  Internationally, he had the opportunity to travel and work in the USA, UK and Nepal. 

Edmore has extensive corporate governance experience acquired over the years through serving in various Boards as a Non-Executive Director. He served as the Treasurer of the FAMSA Board and assumed Chairmanship of the same Board after three (3) years. He served as the Chairperson of the FAMSA Board for 5 years and stepped down in September 2019 after the end of his term. Edmore also previously served as Treasurer of the Gender Dynamix Board, a position he occupied for 5 years until the end of his term in December 2020. He is currently a Board member for Greenpeace Africa and serves as Chairperson of the Finance, Audit and Risk committee for the same board.
