Nokhwezi Hoboyi was a Project Coordinator – National Teenage Pregnancy Prevention Campaign at Sonke Gender Justice.

Nokhwezi Hoboyi joined Sonke in 2014 as the Coordinator of the Mmoho National Teenage Pregnancy Prevention Campaign. Nokhwezi brought a wealth of experience in the HIV Prevention, Treatment Care & Support Sector complemented by her presence in the women’s rights movement in South Africa to Sonke. Nokhwezi is a graduate of the Wits Business School, qualified in Programme & Project Management.

An active traditional health practitioner, she has a long background in the human rights sector having worked for the Treatment Action Campaign in various capacities since 2005. Committed to ensuring that People Living with HIV have a positive voice in the struggle against HIV, AIDS & TB, her passion lies with the rights of women and young girls. As such, she advocates for the realisation of SRH services in an equal society free from gender based & sexual violence.

Nokhwezi has served on many boards and advisory groups including as a member of the Technical Task Team on Treatment, Care and Support representing people living with HIV in the South African National AIDS Council, an Advisory Board Member for STRETCH (Streamlining Tasks and Roles to Expand Treatment and Care for HIV), which provided educational outreach training of nurses on AIDS care and treatment, and a steering committee member of the Global Campaign on Microbicides (GCM). Nokhwezi is currently an Advisory Committee member for SRHR NGO Partners in Sexual Health and a member of the Ekhuruleni District AIDS Council.
