Thandy is Sonke’s Community Mobiliser based in Mpumalanga. Before joining Sonke, she worked for Right to Care as a linkage to care officer stationed at Tintswalo hospital, Thulamahashe CHC and Ludlow clinic, where she reminded patients on chronic medication treatment about their appointment dates, traced patients telephonically who missed their appointments and counselled patients for adherence purpose.
She has worked for Hospice Palliative Care Association as a Linkage to care officer, as a team supervisor for End line survey for Wits RHSI as well as the Treatment Action Campaign’s HIV/Aids Treatment literacy practitioner, where she was later promoted to be a provincial Treatment Literacy Trainer. She is an activist, who has fought hard to push the South African government to provide ARVS to patients among others. She has a strong passion to work with the community as all of her previous work is community based.
Thandy has a passion for helping people by providing counselling support as she has been working with people who have been through a lot of challenges and willing to acquire more skills on counselling to add on the little that she has.
