On 28 November 2018, During 16 Days of Activism, Sonke Gender Justice launched a ground-breaking gender-based violence (GBV) forum in Mnquma in the Eastern Cape.
The forum is a multi-sectoral, coordinating structure for the prevention and response to GBV at a local level. It’s aims is to facilitate partnerships on a municipal, political, traditional, religious and community level to eradicate GBV through the development of a National Strategic Plan.
Sonke is a South African-based non-profit organisation working throughout Africa. We believe women and men, girls and boys can work together to resist patriarchy, advocate for gender justice and achieve gender transformation.
