About Sonke

With a full-time staff of about 100 people working from offices in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Bushbuckridge, Sonke works globally, and especially across Africa, to strengthen government, civil society and citizen capacity to take action to promote gender equality, prevent domestic and sexual violence and reduce the spread and impact of HIV and AIDS. About the internship

Sonke Gender Justice is seeking a well-organised, creative and motivated final year student of graphic design with keen interest in creating content for the digital space and producing impactful, shareable content to communicate messages of social justice.

During your internship, you will be based in Sonke’s office in Cape Town and will work closely with the Communications Unit Manager, who will be your line manager and mentor during this internship.

The Intern will be responsible for designing digital content as well as printed material.

This is an excellent learning opportunity for an individual who is interested in learning more about communication for social change, media liaison and monitoring.

Candidates must:

  • Currently be studying graphic design or a related field
  • Have knowledge of Photoshop
  • Have knowledge of Illustrator
  • Video editing skills will be an advantage
  • Have good interpersonal skills
  • Have proven writing skills
  • Should be eager to learn and not be afraid to take initiative
