About the Position

Sonke is looking for a committed, suitably qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator.

Key duties and responsibilities

The Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring and evaluating activities
  • Training and capacity development
  • Strategic networking
  • Information and data support

Monitoring and evaluating activities

  • Develop M&E tools and resources for use by Sonke and MenEngage programmes staff
  • Coordinate the data collection of monthly & quarterly reports from sub-grantees
  • Manage data collation, analysis, reporting and dissemination to internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist with data management processes and management of M&E systems
  • Contribute to the development of the M&E standard operating procedures
  • Review and recommend further improvement of logical/M&E frameworks including the theory of change
  • Assist with the development of output and outcome indicators
  • Monitor and report on overall progress on achievement of results on a quarterly basis
  • Provide inputs, information and statistics for quarterly, annual and other reports to management
  • Participate in annual project reviews and planning workshops and assist in preparing relevant reports
  • Coordinate the evaluation of project impact
  • Support the maintenance within the data management system & make recommendations for development
  • Develop and strengthen M&E tools for project personnel and support them with sub-grantees
  • Attend M&E Workshops with regional partners
  • Participate in routine data quality assessments
  • Support organisational M&E processes

Training and capacity development

  • Develop the capacity of Sonke staff and MenEngage partners
  • Support the close out process with MenEngage partners including those implementing MEA funded projects
  • Monitor and report on technical assistance provided to partners

Strategic networking

  • Identify and collaborate with strategic partners
  • Support knowledge sharing and reflection with strategic partners
  • Attend key meetings and conferences on Sonke’s regional work and MEA network

Information and data support

  • Prepare strategic briefs and other resource materials (e.g. presentations, information packs) to be used by internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide information on strategic learning arising out of programme interventions that require external sharing and feeds into advocacy efforts
  • Experience and educational qualifications
  • University Degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Research, M&E or related field
  • Honours Degree or master’s degree would be advantageous
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the design and implementation of M&E in development projects
  • Experience working in collaborative and team research projects on gender, violence, and HIV and AIDS in Africa, preferably including work with men and boys
  • Experience in contributing to the overall strategic planning of an organisation
  • Demonstrated strong monitoring and evaluation skills, including planning/participating in evaluations
  • Experience in training and capacity building including offering remote support to MEA partners
  • Expertise in analysing data using statistical software
  • Knowledge of institutional donors and experience in supporting the development of funding proposals
