Community Action Teams (CATs) are organised groups of activists from the same community (or neighbouring communities) who decide to tackle social issues that concern them. They are task-oriented teams that are committed to raising awareness and taking action on issues that affect them and their fellow community members, particularly in relation to challenging gender inequalities and promoting gender justice.
Sonke is a South African-based non-profit organisation working throughout Africa. We believe women and men, girls and boys can work together to resist patriarchy, advocate for gender justice and achieve gender transformation.
