At the closing of the G20 Social Summit in Johannesburg last month, President Cyril Ramaphosa declared Gender-Based Violence and Femicide a National Disaster under the Disaster Management Act, 2002, signalling a coordinated national response to the scourge.
Engaging men and boys remains a stratgeic appraoch to breaking the cycle of violence and advancing gender equality. As we build momentum through the MenEngage Africa network,it is evident that male allyship is very instrumental in adressing the root causes of GBV and fostering a culture of respect and justice.
