Notice:
This Request for Proposals forms the basis for applying to Sonke Gender Justice (Sonke) for a sub-grant. It must neither be construed as a grant agreement, nor be regarded as a confirmation of a sub-grant awarded by Sonke. Consequently, Sonke is not liable for any financial obligations, or otherwise, incurred by any entity in responding to this Request for Proposals. Such costs will not be considered as part of the sub-grant budget in the event that a sub-grant is awarded to an applicant.

Funding Limit: Up to a maximum of ZAR200,000 per funding year, per applicant. A total of two sub grants will be made available, renewable annually over a three-year period (total of R600,000 per applicant).
Eligibility: Only CSOs, BOs, alliances, coalitions or movements working in the area of GBVF in Gauteng (Diepsloot, Diepkloof and Orlando) and Western Cape (Mitchells Plain, Gugulethu and Delft) are eligible to apply.
Sonke Gender Justice is a women’s rights organisation that is committed to feminist principles, using a rights-based and gender-transformative approach to achieve human rights and gender justice. Sonke works to promote gender equality, prevent violence, advance children’s rights, and reduce the spread and impact of HIV and AIDS. We are widely recognized for the impact of our work, including our expertise in engaging men and boys for gender equality, and experience in institutional capacity strengthening.
With the support of the Embassy of Ireland, Sonke will sub-grant to two organisations- one from Western Cape and another from Gauteng to implement activities that respond to GBVF, including through training on GBVF prevention (including on gender norms, positive masculinities and enhancing social cohesion), as well as engage in advocacy initiatives for the effective implementation of laws and policies addressing GBVF.

Eligibility Requirements
All interested applicants must meet the following minimum criteria to be short-listed as potential sub-grantees:
- Locally registered and operating within the stated Areas;
- Have been operational for a minimum of 2 years;
- Must have received and adequately handled donor funding of more than R100 000.00 per annum in the past;
- Have prepared narrative and financial reports to a donor which must be attached to this application as supporting document;
- Demonstrate basic organisational and financial systems being in place.
Exclusions:
Any CBOs that are not focusing on GBVF and are not operating in the focus areas will not be considered.
Application and Submission Instructions
To be considered for funding, applicants must submit a complete application package, including:
• Fully completed application form, using the provided template (Annex A).
• Proposed Budget, using the provided template (Annex B).
• Copies of your organization’s Registration Documents. Community-based groups, networks, coalitions and/or alliances who are not legally registered must provide proof of their mandate, vision, mission and governance structure. This can be in the form of meeting minutes, activity reports, a memorandum of understanding or other type of contract.
• If legally registered, a copy of your organization’s audited financial statements for the previous three years. Community-based groups, networks, coalitions and/or alliances who are not legally registered may submit financial reports to donors, or other
