The rights of non-nationals to access the South African healthcare system is a complex matter. Laws and policies clash. Medical staff are left confused, and the implementation of laws and policies differs. Meanwhile, the South African healthcare system struggles to provide sufficient medical care to any person, regardless of their nationality or status.
Sonke is a South African-based non-profit organisation working throughout Africa. We believe women and men, girls and boys can work together to resist patriarchy, advocate for gender justice and achieve gender transformation.
