Through a longstanding partnership between Sonke and Promundo-US, and as part of the MenEngage Network, we are collaborating to conduct the International Men and Gender Equality Survey (IMAGES) in countries throughout Africa.
IMAGES is a comprehensive household survey on men’s attitudes and practices, and women’s opinions and reports of men’s practices, on a wide variety of topics related to gender equality. The aim of this research collaboration is to provide a baseline for developing comparable, international data on the changing behaviours of men and women in a relational perspective in terms of gender equality in sub-Saharan Africa. Together, we have conducted studies in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Mali, Malawi, Mozambique and Lebanon.
